Scotia Connect Payroll Processing Services

Reliable EFT payroll distribution, CRA source deduction remittance, and seamless integration with Canada's leading payroll platforms.

EFT Payroll Processing

ScotiaConnect processes payroll EFT files conforming to CPA Standard 005 (Payments Canada's standard file format). Your payroll system — whether ADP, Ceridian Dayforce, Wagepoint, or an in-house solution — generates the file, and you upload it through the ScotiaConnect portal. The platform validates each record, checks your account balance, and queues the file for delivery on your specified payment date.

For companies running biweekly or semi-monthly payroll, you can schedule recurring uploads so that the file is processed automatically on each pay date. The system sends a confirmation email when the batch is released and a settlement confirmation when funds have been withdrawn from your account and credited to employee bank accounts.

Same-day EFT is available for urgent payroll corrections. If an employee was omitted from the regular payroll run, a single-record EFT can be initiated and settled within the same business day, provided it is submitted before the cut-off time.

CRA Source Deduction Remittance

Every Canadian employer must remit income tax, CPP, and EI source deductions to the Canada Revenue Agency on a schedule determined by their remittance frequency — monthly, semi-monthly, or quarterly. ScotiaConnect provides a pre-configured CRA payment template that ensures your remittance reaches the Receiver General's account on time, every time.

The template populates the correct CRA payee codes (RC tax account number), and you enter the remittance amount and period-end date. The payment is processed as a priority EFT and a confirmation number is generated for your records. Missing a CRA remittance deadline triggers interest and penalties, so the reliability of this automated process is not a convenience — it is a compliance necessity.

Payroll Platform Integration

Scotia Connect maintains direct integration pathways with the major Canadian payroll platforms. ADP Workforce Now can be configured to auto-generate CPA 005 files and transmit them to ScotiaConnect via secure FTP, eliminating the manual upload step entirely. Ceridian Dayforce offers a similar direct-deposit integration that maps employee bank routing data to ScotiaConnect's file format.

For small businesses using cloud platforms like Wagepoint or Rise People, the integration is file-based: the platform generates a downloadable payroll file which the business owner uploads to ScotiaConnect. The upload process includes a validation step that flags any records with invalid transit numbers or account formats before the file is accepted.

ROE Filing Support

When an employee's employment is interrupted — layoff, resignation, maternity leave — the employer must file a Record of Employment (ROE) with Service Canada. While ScotiaConnect does not file the ROE directly, it provides the detailed payment history reports that your payroll administrator needs to complete the ROE accurately. The transaction export includes gross pay amounts, insurable earnings, pay period dates, and year-to-date totals — all the data fields that the ROE requires.
